Our story

It started as a joke. The duck disagreed.

In 2023, a staff engineer in Helsinki taped a microphone to a rubber duck. The rest is git history.

The premise

Every engineer knows the trick: when stuck on a bug, explain it to an inanimate object. The act of articulating forces clarity. The bug reveals itself. The duck does nothing — and that's the magic.

We thought: what if the duck did almost nothing? What if it asked one good question? What if it remembered what you said yesterday?

What we built

Quackstack is a debugging companion trained on 9.2 billion engineering conversations. It is deliberately not an autocomplete. It will not write your tests. It will not refactor your codebase. It will ask, "did you check the dependency array?" — and most of the time, that's enough.

The team

We're a small flock of engineers, designers, and one ornithologist. We're remote-first, kind to one another, and obsessed with shipping software that doesn't waste your attention.

Backed by

Founders Pond Capital, Sequoia Cygnet, and 312 angel investors who all asked, "wait, is this serious?"

Hiring

We're hiring across engineering, design, and DevRel. If you've ever explained a bug to a coffee mug, you'll fit right in. Drop us a line.
